Born in Takoma Park, Maryland, I was raised in the suburbs of Washington, DC, in a middle-class family. Overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles, numerous setbacks, and many challenges is my life story in a nutshell. The stories that I have to share are deep. That has made me the man I am today. I am a bold and daring go-getter who believes that nothing is impossible. I have reached many milestones that people told me were not possible.

Introduced by close friends in July 1992, my beautiful bride, Tracey, said 'I do' in October 1993. We raised our two children in the Urbana school district. Our daughter currently lives in Annapolis, Maryland; our son is a senior at a private college in Pennsylvania. Currently, my wife and I reside in the waterfront Washingtonian-Downtown Crown area of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

As our children began to leave the nest, my wife and me began to downsize our living experience. It was not an easy process, but we've done such in small steps, downsizing a little more each 12 to 18 months. We went from lots of space including four bedrooms, four bathrooms, eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, recreation room, storage rooms, deck, patio, yard, etc. to a two-level apartment, to a smaller two-level loft apartment, then a two-bedroom and den, then a smaller two-bedroom apartment, and most recently to a one-bedroom with only 748 square feet. It's perfect. It's very different, but gives freedom from 'stuff'. It is exactly the right size for our needs. If you're thinking of downsizing, give me a shout. I have some tips you might be interested in, as well as some fun stories about our journey.

I strive daily to make a difference in the community by investing in people. It has been an honor to have served in key leadership roles within the non-profit community. I have extensive experience planning, directing and leading programs, seminars, workshops and large-scale outreach activities and events, including those that provide critical needs and services to the community. I have volunteered in the community since age six. I love people. I love community. I'm all-in.

My heart to serve causes me to lead with imagination, insight and boldness, presenting a challenge that calls forth the best in people and brings them together around a shared sense of purpose. I strive daily to identify and meet the needs of colleagues, employees and communities. I have been awarded for solving community challenges that impact individuals and the community at-large in unexpected ways with outstanding results.

With more than 30 years experience in the public sector, I currently serve in a senior management position overseeing multiple professional staff in one of the largest, most diverse, highly educated and affluent communities in the United States, populated by more than one million residents, located just outside of Washington, DC. I have dedicated my entire professional career to serving the public. I am highly involved in outreach to the community, and assist community groups with events and activities. I am fully immersed in community life.

For more than a decade, I served as an independent strategic consultant utilizing strong analytical, leadership, management, communication, organizational and critical thinking skills to make a difference in the community. I have provided guidance and hands-on assistance to hundreds of non-profit and grassroots community organizations throughout the Baltimore-Washington, DC metropolitan region.

This is where the rubber meets the road for me! What an honor it has been to have mentored hundreds of men and young men including community leaders, business professionals, pastors, volunteers, high school students, college students, law enforcement officials, ex-convicts, white-collar, blue-collar and everywhere in-between, helping them become the man they were intended to be in their home, workplace and beyond, equipping them with the tools needed to make a difference. I am dedicated to helping non-profit organizations start and or strengthen resources for men in their community. Click here to read more on this topic!

I began my public speaking career very early in life. In fact, my first television interview was before I left elementary school--yes, that's right--I was eight years old. It's getting me to STOP speaking that some have since struggled with--LOL. I have been honored to have addressed groups of a few to crowds of thousands. I have been interviewed on mainstream and community network television stations. Some of the greatest times have been speaking in wide variety of venues including conference and retreat centers, board rooms, mega-churches and on-stage at national events such as the annual Fourth-of-July celebration on the National Mall in Washington, DC. There is so much more to this story... Click here to read more!

In 2002 I began officiating wedding ceremonies as a result of a clear need in the community for an affordable officiant. I had the honor to serve hundreds of couples throughout the Baltimore-Washington, DC metropolitan area within a very reasonable fee structure. Many ceremonies were done free of charge. As of October 1, 2019, I hung my officiant hat up so-to-speak. While I love doing this there are now many affordable officiants serving my community, reducing the need. I'll still do a few each year, I'm sure. I'm addicted. I so enjoy meeting new couples and working with them to make their 'big day' as extra special as possible. There are so many remaining needs within the community that I plan to focus on as I move forward.

As I have indicated elsewhere herein, I am passionate about community. I strive daily to lead with imagination, insight and boldness, presenting a challenge that calls forth the best in people and brings them together around a shared sense of purpose. My motto is: "Make a difference." I am fully immersed in community life. I encourage others in the community to get involved, volunteer, speak out, and help do the same.
